How to launch a brand on a new marketplace in 2–4 weeks
Most brands take months to launch on a new marketplace — not because it's hard, but because the work happens in the wrong order and stalls on missing documents. Done properly, a standard launch takes two to four weeks. Here's the sequence we use.
Week 1 — Foundations
Account & verification
Start the account and verification immediately, because this is the step most likely to stall. Have your GST/tax details, bank account, business documents and (for global) any brand or IP paperwork ready on day one. On invite-only channels like Target Plus, this is where approval timelines live — so it runs in parallel with everything else.
Category & keyword research
While verification processes, map the category: how buyers search, what the top listings do well, where the gaps are, and what price band you'll compete in. This research feeds the catalog, so it can't wait until the end.
Week 2 — Catalog & creative
Listings that convert
Build keyword-led titles, bullets and descriptions mapped to the marketplace's category attributes, plus images and (where supported) A+ / enhanced content. Get variations and size charts right the first time — fixing them later costs ranking.
Pricing & fulfilment
Model your net margin per order including fees and shipping, and choose fulfilment (FBA, WFS, F-Assured or self-ship). The fulfilment badge is one of the biggest early conversion levers, so decide it before launch, not after.
Weeks 3–4 — Launch & first momentum
Go live
Publish the catalog, confirm inventory is accurate, and check every listing renders correctly on mobile. Turn on a small, structured advertising campaign — you need early clicks and conversions to feed the ranking algorithm.
The first-week actions that matter
- Watch account health daily — a new account is fragile until it has a track record.
- Respond to every buyer message within 24 hours; early responsiveness feeds your metrics.
- Seed reviews the compliant way (the platform's own programs), never with fake reviews.
- Adjust bids and keywords on real data, not guesses, from day three or four.
- Keep inventory buffered — a stockout in week one wastes the launch momentum.
What makes it slower
Two things stretch a 2–4 week launch: missing documents (start verification first to avoid this) and invite-only approvals (which run on the platform's clock, not yours). Everything else is within your control if the work runs in the right order.
